Around Midnight

Anyone who knows me knows that I love jazz music. I have a lot of found memories and possessions when it comes to jazz. One of my treasured things is a jazz mix which is a soundtrack of our family. No matter of the time or mood it’s been played more than any other song, album or mix.

The mix took me almost 13 years to assemble the perfect jazz compilation for all moods and realized I need to share it with you.  I call the mix “Around Midnight.”

1 My Funny Valentine by Gerry Mulligan

2 Naima by John Coltrane

3 I Remember Clifford by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers

4 Django by The Modern Jazz Quartet

5 Misty by Errol Garner

6 In a Sentimental Mood by John Coltrane

7 But Beautiful by Stan Getz & Bill Evans

8 God Bless The Child by Kenny Burrell

9 In Your Own Sweet Way by Wes Montgomery

I would love to hear your favorite mix of your favorite songs any genre and what makes it special?

    • I would add two more to the list both Miles Davis songs: Cool Jazz and Finding Forrester.

  2. I have a soft spot for Bellavia by Chuck Mangione – written for his mother for Mother’s Day, it’s so richly layered, so smooth! Definitely more commercial jazz than the hardcore stuff, but love listening to it.
