My Best Friend Shoot

We began working on our next sermon series and thought I share with you the making of, My Best Friend The Holy Spirit.

We wanted a lot of symbolism in everything for the artwork and videos. We played around with a lot of ideas from an to an Periodic Table of the Elements look.

We finally had an AH-HA moment and went with an envelope and seal approach. The envelope is to relate to correspondence or exchange from one party to another; in this case from the Holy Spirit to Us or vice versa. The seal has so many layers but most importantly the love and blood shed for human kind.

We purchased a Steel Seal and Wax for roughly 36-Dollars and went to town creating the elements. I have never had so much fun with a lighter, wax, and cameras. Wait a second. Nevermind. We suspended the wax sticks by a Matthews C-Stand, Jib Arm and Grip Head over white paper. And additionally lit the wax sticks with 2 Lowell 40w Rifas, 1 Lowell 50w Rifa with Egg Create, and 2 Arri 350w Frensels for background lighting.

The footage was shot with a Sony HV1-V1Up at 1080i 24pA with a reverse Telecine process applied in Final Cut Studio 2. Footage was then migrated to Motion for finalizing a rough comp.
