Ropes and Weights

ropes

I had an insanely productive day today and it made me think, what is it that keeps us from being as productive as we might be? Why do some people seem to be perpetually in a state of productivity and others just “rock along” not accomplishing very much?

I often think that we are much like hot air balloons. I’ve never been in one but I understand they initially get off the ground when ropes are released. What do we need to release so we can get off the ground? Are we grounded because of resentment or greed or anger? What if we release those things and get off the ground but we don’t go very high? Is it because we’re carrying some extra weight? What are those weights? Maybe it’s a grudge or a habit or satisfaction with the status quo.

From time to time, I struggle in those areas. Whether or not we are able to reach new heights will have a lot to do with whether or not we’re willing to cut some ropes and throw out some weights.
